There are generally four basic types of stress to be aware of and some are of course more common then others. Everyone is different but each person has more in likely suffered from each of the four types of stress at least once.
There is eustress, which is a short-term stress and is most often found when someone is in competition and it is often helpful. The oposite of this is distress, which is pretty much what we all go through on a regular basis, often without even realising it.
Then there is acute stress which occurs as a result of being overloaded with work or tasks. Another occurence may be when a person is threatened in some way. Symptoms may include anxiety, bad judgment and depression.
Worst of all is chronic stress, which occurs as a result of the body being under constant tension and anxiety. It can lead to serious illness if it is left unchecked for a prolonged period of time.
